The benefits with Parking Space Management

Overall, Parking Management is considered to greatly enhance the employee experience by
providing security and an effective overview of all resource bookings for the user. Another advantage is that Parking Management enables effective analysis over parking usage, bookings, occupancy peaks and much more. Below we will go through some of the key benefits.

Security and effective planning

Adapting a parking management system gives your employees the guarantee of a parking space when deciding to come to the office. Parking spaces can be booked in advance and together with desks and meeting rooms if needed. It is also possible to assign fixed parking spaces for employees, giving them visual indication of their parking space and communicating to others that the parking space is unavailable. If you only want to allow booking upon arrival, Parking Management can be used to give visual indication of occupancy and greatly reduce time spent looking for available parking spaces. Read more about our Busy Lights that can be used for this purpose.

A fully integrated solution to enhance employee experience

Employees use multiple office resources on a day-to-day basis. Rooms, Desks, and Parking Spaces usually go hand-in-hand when planning your workday at the office. A fully integrated solution, where booking of resources is managed from one place will greatly simplify the booking process for your employees and motivate them to come to the office.

Wayfinding

Using a Parking Management solution also gives your employees effective wayfinding capabilities. When an employee has booked a parking space, the booking will be visible on the Flowmap and is easy to access through ‘My Bookings’. Employees can then locate the parking space on the map and turn on wayfinding for turn-by-turn guidance to the parking space. Name indication on the map also makes sure that employees do not confuse their parking space with someone else’s.

Reduce Facility costs

Do not let your parking spaces collect dust and drain your budget. Powerful statistics tools allows you to analyze bookings, usage, peak occupancy and much more. If you only reach 50% utility of you parking spaces, some can be rented out while the remaining can be shared between the employees. These insight can only be produced using sensor technology and booking software. In the end, this has the potential to save money on your facility costs.

Assign Parking spaces to employees

If you want to have fixed parking spaces for your employees, you can mark each parking space with an employee name, so everyone knows where their parking space is.

Key Functions of Parking Management

Now when we have covered the benefits of Parking Management, its time to go over the key functions you will be able to use when adapted the solution. Parking Management provides Booking, fixed assigning and ad-hoc occupancy indication.

Booking Parking spaces

Technically, there is not much that separates parking spaces from desks or rooms when it comes to booking, read more about desk booking here. When an employee has booked the parking space, it will appear red on the map indicating to others that the parking space is occupied. You can choose to either enable booking per hour, for complete days or half days. Having this flexibility in booking duration allows your employees adapt their schedule and know when they can come into work.

Booking is managed through a smartphone app or via a web application. Parking spaces can be booked for several days at the time and will turn green on the map when the employee leaves the parking space. Use advanced permission rules to govern which teams or departments that can book which parking spaces.

Fixed Parking spaces

Having a map over the parking area is beneficial even if you have assigned parking spaces. Parking Management makes it possible to assign parking spaces to specific employees and their name will be indicated on the map so other employees can see that the parking space is assigned and not bookable.

Especially if you combine fixed parking spaces with bookable, ad-hoc and guest parking, having a map that visualizes these different parking areas will make them easy to distinguish and make sure that everyone gets the parking space that they have right to. Essentially, having a map over you parking areas is a natural complement to the management of your other resources.

Ad-hoc Parking

If you are using an ad-hoc parking management system, meaning that parking spaces are not booked but taken upon arrival, Parking Presence sensors can be used to indicate occupancy on the map. The Parking Presence Sensor turns the parking space red automatically when a car is parked. The sensor can also be used for fixed and bookable parking spaces to analyze usage or to indicate occupancy. Read more about how presence sensors work here.

Visual indication of occupancy for parking spaces

Use Busy lights to give visual indication to which parking spaces that are available. This is extra beneficial for parking, when we drive, we do not look at our phones. If employees are taking a parking space ad-hoc, it is easy to see which parking spaces that are available from a distance.
